The Laughter is Over for French and Henry...

Comedien Lenny Henry and Comedianne Dawn French, have divorced amicably on the grounds of his "unreasonable behaviour" after 25 years of marriage.  A "quickie" divorce was granted to Dawn by the District Judge. No details of the unreasonable behaviour were given in divorce documents made public today, however I'm going guess it was his purple top hat.  I REALLY thought those kids were gonna make it!

  1. Her choice of millinery may also have contributed to this sad split.

  2. There was a whole chapter in her book dedicated to his playing away..... most probably the reason, no?!

  4. Interesting post from a family law blog
"You may have read in the press over the weekend that Dawn French has petitioned for divorce on the basis of Lenny Henry’s unreasonable behaviour. Despite this, she is reported to have said that they still remain best friends and that there is no animosity between them. Commentators have questioned the sincerity of these comments and have queried whether it is a contradiction in terms to remain friends with someone whose behaviour you claim was so unreasonable it caused your marriage to breakdown irretrievably.

In order to divorce someone on the basis of their unreasonable behaviour, you must be able to prove that that your husband or wife has behaved in such a way that you cannot reasonably be expected to live with them. The test to be applied to determine whether the behaviour is reasonable or not is whether a right thinking person would come to the conclusion that your husband/wife has behaved in such a way that you cannot reasonably be expected to live with him or her taking into account the whole of the circumstances and the characters and personalities of the parties"
